Creating Skills Tracking Standards

Create and customise standards, levels, skills, and statuses to track student progress.

Before you can track student progress, you'll need to create a Skills Tracking standard. You can customise the standard with your own levels, skills, and statuses.

Create a Standard

  1. Go to Class Planner.
  2. Select Skills tracking standards.
  3. Click Create standard.
  4. Enter a Name for your standard.
  5. Add a Description if needed.
  6. Set up your statuses, levels, and skills.
  7. Click Save.

Set Up Proficiency Statuses

Statuses describe a student's progress with a skill.

You can:

  • Add new statuses.
  • Edit existing statuses.
  • Drag and drop statuses to change their order.
  • Remove statuses you no longer need.

For example, you might use statuses such as Confident, Ready to Grade, and Passed.

You can edit your statuses at any time. Changes will automatically be reflected wherever the standard is being used.

Set Up Levels

Levels allow you to organise skills into different stages of progression.

You can:

  • Add new levels.
  • Edit existing levels.
  • Drag and drop levels to change their order.
  • Remove levels when needed.

Add and Manage Skills

Skills are the individual skills students will work towards within each level.

You can:

  • Add new skills.
  • Edit the wording of existing skills.
  • Drag and drop skills to change their order.
  • Remove skills when they're no longer needed.

You can continue to update your standard after you've created it. Any changes will automatically be reflected wherever the standard is being used.

Show Skills Tracking in the Family Portal

When adding skills tracking standard, you can choose whether to make it visible in the Family Portal.

If enabled, families will be able to view their student's Skills Tracking progress from the student's profile. Families can view the information but cannot edit it.

If you don't enable this option, the Skills Tracking information will remain available to staff but won't be shown to families.

Once your standard is ready, you can add it to lessons from the Class Planner.
