Managing Student Skills Tracking

Add Skills Tracking to lessons and update students' skills, statuses, and levels as they progress.

Once you've created a Skills Tracking standard, you can add it to your lessons and use it to monitor student progress.

📝 Skills Tracking can be used with both regular classes and drop-in classes. 

Add Skills Tracking to a Lesson

  1. Go to Class Planner.
  2. For a regular class: select the relevant season, then open the class.
    For a Drop-in class: select Drop-in classes, then open the relevant class. 
  3. If Skills Tracking hasn't been added, click +Add skills tracking standard.
  4. Choose to either:
    • Create a new standard, or
    • Select an existing standard.
  5. Select the standard you want to use.
  6. If you want families to be able to track the progress of students, toggle on Enable families to track the progress from their portal .
  7. Click Add standards to class.

Once added, the lesson will show that Skills Tracking is active.

Update Student Progress

From the Skills Tracking view, you can see the progress of the students in the lesson.

You can:

  • View each student's current level.
  • View the status of their skills.
  • Update individual skill statuses.
  • Change a student's level.
  • Identify students who are ready to grade or have recently passed.

When updating a student's progress, you can update skills individually or use the available options to update multiple skills at once.

For example, when a student is ready to grade, you can choose to update all of their skills to a particular status or change only their overall status.

Update Skills Tracking from a Student Profile

You can also view and update a student's Skills Tracking from their profile.

  1. Open the student's profile.
  2. Find Skills Tracking.
  3. Select the relevant Skills Tracking record.
  4. Review their current levels, skills, and statuses.
  5. Make any updates needed.

This allows you to update a student's progress without having to open each individual lesson.

Viewing Progress by Status

Skills Tracking provides an overview of students at different stages of progress, making it easier to identify students who may need attention or are ready to move forward.

For example, you can quickly see students who are Ready to Grade or Recently Passed.

Family Portal

If the Skills Tracking standard has been made visible in the Family Portal, families can view their student's progress from the student's profile.

Families can view the student's Skills Tracking information but cannot edit or update it.
