# Setting Up Tuition Fees Paid at Enrollment

## Choose which tuition installments families must pay when enrolling in a class.

Class Manager allows you to decide what families must pay upfront when enrolling in a class.

You can choose whether families pay:

- The **first installment**
- **Multiple installments**
- Or **nothing upfront**, with payments taken on the scheduled installment dates

These settings only affect what must be paid at enrollment.

They do not change the original installment dates set for the season or term.

📝 “Nothing upfront” is the default option for tuition instalments.

### Step 1: Navigate to Tuition Fee Settings

1. Go to `Settings` **→** `Registration and tuition fees`.
2. If this is your first time accessing this page, click `Continue` to move past the registration fee setup.

### Step 2: Configure Tuition Fees

On the next page, find the **Tuition Fees** section.

Here you can choose which tuition installments must be paid at enrollment.

📝 If a student enrolls **after the season/term has started**, they must pay any installments that are already due immediately.

These settings **do not apply to custom payment options**.

You will see four options:

#### 1. First Installment Upfront (Default)

The student pays the **first installment when enrolling**.

If the student enrolls late, they must pay **any installments already due**.

#### 2. First and Second Installments Upfront

The student pays the **first two installments at enrollment**.

If enrolling late, they must pay:

- - Any installments already due
    - **Plus the next installment**

#### 3. First and Last Installments Upfront

The student pays the **first and last installments when enrolling**.

If enrolling late, they must pay:

- - Any installments already due
    - **Plus the final installment**

#### 4. Nothing Upfront

No tuition is paid at enrollment.

Payments follow the **normal installment schedule** for the season or term.

If the student enrolls late, they must still pay **any installments already due**.

### Step 3: Save Your Settings

Once you have selected your preferred option, click `Save`.

Your tuition payment rules will now apply to new enrollments.

#### Example: How Upfront Tuition Payments Work

**Season/Term:** January – April  
**Installments:** Jan 1, Feb 1, Mar 1, Apr 1  
**Student enrolls:** December 15 (before the season starts)

| **Tuition Setting** | **What is paid on Dec 15** |
| --- | --- |
| First installment upfront | Jan installment |
| First and second upfront | Jan + Feb installments |
| First and last upfront | Jan + Apr installments |
| Nothing upfront | Nothing (payments follow normal schedule) |
