Taking Attendance

Record student attendance for each lesson and keep track of absences and their reasons.

You can take attendance for a lesson from the Dashboard, Class Planner, or Notification Panel. When marking a student as absent, you can also record a reason for their absence.

Take Attendance from the Dashboard

The Lessons widget on the Dashboard shows your lessons based on the selected calendar period.

  1. On the Dashboard, find the Lessons widget.
  2. Use the calendar filter to view lessons from Today, the Last 7 days, or the Next 7 days.
  3. Find the lesson you want to take attendance for.
  4. Click Take attendance.

You'll be taken to the attendance page where you can mark attendance for the students in the lesson.


Take Attendance from the Class Planner

You can also access attendance directly from the Class Planner:

  1. Go to Class Planner.
  2. Select the relevant season
  3. Find and select the class.
  4. Find the lesson you want to take attendance for.
  5. Click Take attendance.

Take Attendance from the Notification Panel

Teachers will receive a notification prompting them to take attendance before their lesson.

  1. Open the notification from the Notification panel (bell icon).
  2. Click Take Attendance.

Mark Attendance

On the attendance page, you can:

  • Click Mark all as present to mark everyone as present.
  • Use the three-dot menu to Mark all as absent (Explained).
  • Mark students Present individually.
  • Mark students Absent individually.
  • Use the three-dot menu to Reset attendance if you need to clear the attendance you've recorded.

Record an Absence Reason

When you mark a student as absent individually, you'll be prompted to select an absence reason:

  • Explained
  • Holiday
  • Illness
  • Unexplained

Select the reason that best describes the student's absence.

Once you've recorded attendance, the attendance information will be saved against the lesson and can be used to keep track of student attendance over time.
